South Africa: Enabled Women Arise (EWA)

The programme is led by disabled women for disabled women/girls to strengthen their resistance to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and engender inclusion. The goal is to:

1/ Improve access to GBV prevention & response information, knowledge & resources for disabled women/girls (translation in accessible formats such as braille or sign language)

2/ Mitigate access barriers to safe specialist support GBV services for disabled women/girls: Training for disability-GBV community peer educators (Train the Trainer) & monthly community support group sessions conducted by trained women in their respective communities

3/ Offer psychosocial support

4/ Provide an early start to career exploration, entrepreneurship & work-readiness competences for disabled youth, including a 5-week training program (thematic workshops, CV writing, etc).
