The capital of the Moche empire (from about 100 AD to 800 AD) was located in the Moche Valley, 8km South of the city Trujilo. The Huacas del Sol y de la Luna is a 12,000 sq metres masterpiece of polychrome murals showing rich iconography and aesthetics.
The four main components of the projects are archaeology, conservation, community benefits and social use. It also seeks to involve the nearby population in the opportunities that ensures responsible tourism.

Board of the Moche Valley Temples (Huacas del Valle de Moche): The organisation is an NGO that handles domestic and foreign private funds to promote, defend, protect and preserve the archaeological heritage found in the Moche Valley and promote the development of tourism in the Valley.
