  • Location Bangalore

In Bangalore, labour colonies (migrants) are disconnected from municipal waste collection network, leading to waste accumulation blocking drainage channels and pathways, and becoming a breeding ground for diseases. This project will help with:

1/ Education on waste segregation for 8 labour colonies (trainings on waste management & recycling techniques), focusing on children & women

2/ Linkage to proper waste management network, building process ownership (creation of a “Waste Warrior Committee” to oversee on time/quality waste segregation, set-up of segregation bins at household level & generation of revenue through disposal of segregated plastic)

3/ Positive contribution through Alstom volunteering (clean-athons, tree planting, recycling workshops), creation of re-usable products from recycled bottles for sale, and art & creative workshops.
