India: Promoting education and health status of girl children in unreached tribal groups of the Ayyalur Forest Region (Eastern Ghats)

The project aims to provide opportunities for healthcare & education to tribal girls, as well as income generation for women through beekeeping & home gardens.
Key activities:
- Evening classes & counseling to parents & students, basic literacy & numeracy skills, trainings on sanitation, health, running small businesses for women
- Enrollment campaigns in 10 villages to ensure 100% school enrollment
- Education Committees in each village to discuss issues related to girls education
- Health & nutrition program through awareness activities (Street plays or songs on menstrual hygiene, safe drinking water, proper hand washing, child marriages)
- Home gardens: Plant seedlings (Papaya, drumstick, guava & lemon) distributed to households for supplementary nutritional food
- Training of health volunteers
- Health Committees in each village (Doctors, nurses, women SHG leaders)
- Beekeeping training & honey production for 50 women.
