Alstom Foundation has once again partnered with CARE India in Madhepura to deliver a multi-faceted project that would enable women and young girls to live a more dignified life. In the immediate vicinity of Alstom’s Madhepura factory, 150 women and youth from seven villages will be given help to develop relevant skills for future employment.

Adolescent girls will be empowered to become agents of change in the community through a village sanitation and habitat improvement program. Handpumps will be installed to ensure access to safe drinking water. Anganwadi Centers and Health Sub-Centers would also be renovated and refurbished, and women would be trained with employable skills that would make them eligible for dignified employment.

This is the second phase of a project that the Alstom Foundation first committed to in 2016.
