- Location 20 villages in Karur & Coimbatore Districts
This current project targets 15 education centres in Karur District & 5 centres in Coimbatore District, in which 20 part-time teachers conduct classes to improve the education level of rural poor children. The new project proposal is now to:
1/ Extend the scope by building a 1,200 m² community health centre to address the lack of health facilities in the Sellakarichel Panchayat of Sultanpet Block (near Alstom Coimbatore). People in those nearby villages lack proper health services, forcing them to travel long distances for medical care
2/ Continue after-school education in the 20 villages focusing on academic subjects & on topics related to personal hygiene, prevention of child marriage and gender equality. AF funds to cover both education (salaries for teachers) & health aspects (centre construction, salaries, purchase of medical equipment & medicines, etc).
