  • Status

    Ongoing

  • Location Aldana, Pasto & Sapuyes

The Nariño Department is challenged by deforestation & biodiversity loss while indigenous populations are trying to recover their identity. This project aims to specifically empower indigenous women to reforest tropical areas and preserve the ecosystem:

1/ Strengthen 4 community nurseries for sustainable production of 41,000 native trees (Collection/selection of native seeds, biofertilisers, trees management, competences training)

2/ Restore the high Andean Forest by planting 35,000 trees in live fences & watershed protection

3/ Implement sustainable dairy farming with small producers through sylvopastoral training (Selection of farmers, 5 training modules, environmental diagnosis, maintenance, ethnoveterinary practices, etc)

4/ Raise awareness on environmental issues for 500 children (Workshops on forest conservation + planting day with local communities).
